How is Tyler coming in the wake of what happened between him and Caroline? While he may be back in Mystic Falls, it does not mean that he’s going to spend much time right now rushing into her arms.

As a matter of fact, the sneak peek for “The Vampire Diaries” Thursday night almost suggests that Tyler is going to be in full-on “drink the pain away” mode. Not only that, but he is going to be a reckless enough drunk that he really won’t care that much who he is drinking with … even if it is someone who is not exactly good to him at all. This is where Nadia enters the picture. She is a woman who perceives Katherine to be dead, not knowing that she has merely leaped over into the body of Elena. Therefore, she is drinking to engage in plenty of her own sad-boozing. He invites her to take shots with him like they are trying to get into the biggest fraternity in school, and she doesn’t exactly object to the idea.

What makes this a little more surprising here is when you both remember and consider that there is someone there who is trying to warn Tyler that this is not a bad move. Not only that, but this is someone who has been through his own fair share of Caroline-related heartbreak already: Matt. He was buried alive by Nadia earlier on in the season, and knows just what sort of trouble that she’s bringing to the area. Unfortunately, Tyler is far too far gone right now to care.
