Ratings: ‘Hawaii Five-0,’ ‘Undercover Boss’ returning damage ‘Bones,’ ‘Enlisted’

This is the time of the season where we tend to find a couple of shows to rally behind for another season, and at the moment, one of those shows is Fox’s incredibly-funny (but also significantly under-sampled) “Enlisted.”

Unfortunately, the return of “Hawaii Five-0,” coupled with another new “Shark Tank” and quite possibly the lead-up to Super Bowl Sunday, all played a role in denting the show’s ratings somewhat on Friday night. “Enlisted’s” latest episode, which has been one of their best of this season so far, drew a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The show has been pulling fantastic DVR figures, but it’d be great if just a third or so of those people switched over to start watching live. That’d be just enough to really make us feel secure about the future of the show, which we personally hope gets some play on Tuesday nights before the end of this season. (For those curious, “Hawaii Five-0” drew a 1.7, which was four-tenths below the leader of the night in “Shark Tank.”)

Another Fox series was also hurt somewhat by CBS, as “Undercover Boss” (1.7) came back solid and made a dent in “Bones” (1.6). One thing that we really are noticing here as a whole is that there is a whole lot more competition across the board on Fridays this year, which is really a testament to the networks actually trying to put some meaningful programming on the air more so than in years past. Fridays are almost becoming yet another night of the week, and we actually find that the programming is getting on part with the Sunday-Thursday lineup. We’d complain about there not being anything tremendous on at 11, but “Hannibal” returns with its second season next month.
