‘The Bachelor’: Chris Harrison talks Juan Pablo Galavis controversy, ‘View’ rumors
For the first time, Chris Harrison has finally spoken out about what was one of the biggest stories of the entire “Bachelor” world so far: Juan Pablo Galavis’ controversial remarks about whether or not he would like to see a gay “Bachelor.” It was bizarre in a way for the show’s host not to make his opinions clear, mostly because this is a guy we are so used to time and time again being quick to weigh in on any and all situations with a fairly honest perspective.
Well, Harrison has finally spoke out now over a week after Juan Pablo made his comments, which he has since apologized for by citing a language barrier among other things. Chatting with The Hollywood Reporter on the heels of Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici’s big wedding, he did not even attempt to defend Juan Pablo for his statements:
“I took a long time to think about it. I was disappointed in his comments, and they obviously don’t reflect my feelings or my thoughts on the subject … But you have to respect his freedom to say or do whatever he wants.”
Harrison also did take advantage of the opportunity to address what has become another interesting topic of conversation lately: Whether or not he would considering joining “The View.” The show has been mulling whether or not to add a male panelist in the wake of Barbara Walters’ upcoming retirement, and he sounds open to the idea. Not only that, but he feels like it will not interfere with anything that he already does:
“I went out there for a week and had a wonderful time … It was a great experience. I love live TV, and if I had the opportunity to do a live show like that, I would love it. I love my day job too — I guess this is my night job. I love my night job, and this is my baby. I’ve been on this show for 12 years, and we’re a huge family on and off camera. But if I could slip something else in and make it work, something like TheView, I’d be honored to do it.”
Obviously, we’ll have more news on both subjects as they come out, so be on the watch for that. Also, be sure to sign up for our CarterMatt Newsletter if you want to get some more updates sent straight to your email! Think of them as a much more efficient version of Harrison’s date cards.
