Ratings: ‘Bones’ season 9 helps ‘Enlisted’; ‘Shark Tank’ hits high
While we wondered whether or not there was any chance at all for “Enlisted” after premiering to such low numbers, we’re starting to feel a little more optimistic. Why is that? Thanks to a new timeslot, this military comedy (which is really pretty good and worth a spot on your DVR, if nothing else) is really not that far behind now what “Dads” and “The Mindy Project” drew on Tuesday nights.
The show’s first episode following “Bones” last night drew a 1.0 rating, which, while not particularly good, is still something to smile at compared to previous ratings. We are still mostly curious with how Fox decided for whatever reason to just not give this show any love at all with a better night. It’s better than “Dads,” and it would actually compliment “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” well as a male-driven series.
Meanwhile, we still have to give Fox some credit for making what was actually a very smart move with “Bones.” With a 1.8 last night, it has barely suffered at all going to Fridays, and is now the #2 show on the night. Sometimes, executives do know what they are doing! The fact that it did this with what was ultimately a pretty weak episode is all the more impressive.
There are a couple of other little things that are interesting enough to point out:
1. “Shark Tank” scored a new high last night with a 2.2 rating, which is absurd given how Fridays are typically terrible for TV. This is proof that you can program for this night if you are both creative and patient enough … but you really do have to be both.
2. “Last Man Standing” may have only received a 1.4, but this show actually draws very nice viewer figures for ABC. Is this one of the oldest-skewing comedies out there? It definitely feels like. (It also feels like it could move right to TV Land if it was canceled and not really miss a beat at all.)
