‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 15 review: What are the names of Ted’s kids?
Going into Monday night’s “How I Met Your Mother” episode, we were promised something very significant: The official name of Ted’s children. What was it? You were forced to wait for most of the episode to find out, but at least almost everything in the interim was very entertaining. (More on the names later.)
Unlike last week, which was just a little too silly (and offensive to some, prompting that apology), the major story this time around revolved around Robin and Ted discovering that they had made Barney so drunk, he no longer possessed the ability to keep his thoughts to himself. Therefore, he proceeded to speak out about almost anything and everything that he had done over the years.
The big kahuna? What he actually does for a living … which is basically just signing a bunch of stuff that could implicate him in all sorts of stuff. What was great about it was that it really did seem perfect for him, especially when it was revealed to be an elaborate plot to get back at a guy who stole his girl.
Also, Barney never actually denied that there will be a bear at the wedding.
As for story #2, it was more about Marshall being forced finally to actually address the carnage of taking the job as a judge in New York. He thought he was going to get away with not speaking about it by sleeping with her, and it didn’t happen … and the fighting only got worse from here. This is the most horrible fight (but probably the most realistic) that the two have had in some time. It probably will be worked out, but maybe not for a while.
Overall, this was a very good episode, and one of the sweetest ones that we’ve seen. It was a completely new side of Barney than we’ve seen from him before. Oh, and the names of Ted’s children were Luke and Penny. This makes her the second-most-famous Penny in the CBS family. Grade: A-.
