‘Game of Thrones’ season 4: Emilia Clarke re-teaming with Alan Taylor on ‘Terminator’

The latest -Throughout some of the early seasons of “Game of Thrones,” Emilia Clarke has worked extensively with Alan Taylor. It’s thanks to this that you have to assume he played a role in ensuring that she would be a part of his next major project: A reboot of the “Terminator” franchise.

In what is her first major franchise movie role, Clarke has, per Deadline, signed on to play Sarah Connor in the project, which will be in theaters in 2015. This was a sought-after role that many of the top young actresses read for, and it came down to really Clarke and Brie Larson, who recently guest-starred on “Community.”

Ironically, Clarke is also going to be joined by another Clarke in Jason, who will be playing Sarah’s son John in what is going to be some sort of flash-forward wrinkle in the story. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also going to appear, which seems appropriate since he is one of the only reasons that any of us know about this franchise in the first place. (We have to hope that everyone has already forgotten about the Christian Bale movie.)

But how will this new gig impact what Emilia is doing for HBO? The short answer is that it will not. Clarke is still under contract with the show, and thanks to the way in which it is filmed, she can really film the bulk of her scenes in a very short amount of time compared to other scenes. That is one of the joys of playing the Khaleesi; you can still have a life and a career outside of the show, and also play one of the most popular heroines on all of TV right now. It’s a win-win situation for her, and she has some time now, given that season 4 for the series has already filmed. (Production on a potential fifth season will not begin until the summer, and it’s possible that eventually HBO could delay making additional seasons to give George R.R. Martin time to complete his books.)
