‘Homeland’ season 3 finale spoilers: Claire Danes teases more ‘big risks’

See Carrie -Homeland” is doing something pretty interesting when it comes to preparing for their upcoming season finale; namely, they are doing everything in their power to keep almost every scene under wraps. They have not released any sneak peeks as they usually do, and are relying more on the weight of the story that has been built to keep you interested.

The biggest question going into this episode is just if Nicholas Brody is going to find a way to make it out of this alive. He has done the right thing in the eyes of the CIA and killed their target; but, he did not do it in the way in which was previously specified. He’s placed himself in the only position that he could be in order to finish the job, but has put himself significantly in harm’s way in order to do so.

It goes almost without saying that most of the cast is staying silent on the final episode of the season, but you do at least have Claire Danes saying the following about the story ahead in an “Entertainment Tonight” interview:

“The finale is pretty big. As you might expect. A lot happens in the finale. The writers continue to take really bold risks and we’re always exploring new territory. We’re not afraid to question who these characters are, and re-imagine them.”

If there is a “bold risk’ to take in this episode, to us it would be finding a way to kill off one of the main characters at this point. As a matter of fact, we would almost argue that unless you were somehow going to make the show about Brody and Carrie’s twisted love story, you have to find a way to kill Damian Lewis’ character off and Carrie has to move on. There is nothing else that you can get out of Brody’s story as a United States citizen and suspected traitor at this point. The show went so big with the Langley bombing that you really cannot go any bigger.

While we know that it has been easy at times to completely lambaste “Homeland” and say that it has been uneven and at times over the top, the level of uncertainty present here in some ways perfectly mirrors the amount that happens at any point where you have a disaster, and then the aftermath of that disaster. It is almost impossible to know just what the right and proper thing to do will be.
