‘The Amazing Race 24’: What we know about cast, all-star theme so far (no spoilers)

Amazing Race -Tonight marks the end for “The Amazing Race 23,” so it only seems natural to ask as a result of that what in the world is coming up in the spring? “The Amazing Race 24” will feature a different premise in that there will be eleven teams who have all in some shape or form raced before. It’s unclear if this is going to be an “Unfinished Business” theme like we had this past time, but some of the biggest characters to have ever graced the race are going to make an appearance.

The cast list is not official yet, and probably will not be until closer to the new season just in order to build up momentum properly. You can see the rumored list at the link here, but don’t worry: We’re not going to spoil anything else for you. We know that some people out there just like to know the teams in advance.

Is an all-star season a great idea for this show? We’re somewhat torn by that, since this is a show that works so differently than one like “Survivor” or “Big Brother.” Getting to see new teams is typically more effective, and there’s never really that level playing field here. Also, returning teams may be a little more self-aware in front of the camera, and either watch what they say or ham it up more. (Imagine if the Afghanimals are going to come back what they will be like.)

But with all of this being said, “The Amazing Race” has been one of our favorite shows for the past 12 or so years. We’re always happy for a new season, and really just hope that this one will contain potentially some places that we haven’t seen already, or at least seen less. For example, how about visiting Laos rather than Vietnam or China, or seeing Eastern Russia rather than the part closer to Europe? We’d also love to see some more of Western Africa, Australia, Wales, Greenland, Honduras, Mexico, or some other countries that may not be as frequently-visited. It feels to us (though this may be a feeling more so than anything else) that the countries that are over-visited are the likes of India, China, and parts of Western Europe.

We’ll be back tonight with a further look at the season finale; but, you can watch a preview for it now if you would like here. Where do you want to see “The Amazing Race” go next? Be sure to share your thoughts below!
