2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade: Jimmy Fallon, The Roots performs with ‘Sesame Street’

Late Night with Jimmy FallonOver the course of the past several months, Jimmy Fallon has shown an appreciation for “Sesame Street,” and as a new father, he probably is enjoying every opportunity that he can to perform with Big Bird and some of the other iconic characters from the children’s show (even you Oscar the Grouch!)

So on Thanksgiving morning, Fallon decided to hit the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with his band The Roots for yet another year, and they all busted out a fun, enthusiastic performance using some of the children’s instruments that he has been using for a series of viral videos over the course of the past several months. It’s a fun little performance for Jimmy, and it is the great sort of last-minute promotion that he was hoping for prior to his debut as the host of “The Tonight Show” in February.

We have to give Jimmy credit for one other thing here, and it is something that does tend to get lost more often than not when it comes to everything that happens on the Parade: There’s a lot of very bad lip-syncing. It’s pretty impossible to get the right sort of acoustics and sound equipment out there for these people in the conditions, so they have to just make their best attempt at looking like they are rocking out on their floats. At least Jimmy does a pretty good job of making it look like he is giving some sort of performance, but he does have some help here courtesy of the likes of Big Bird and Elmo. Puppets have been some of the best lip-sync artists for many years now, so long as their mouths continue to move.

“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” will continue to air on NBC until February; meanwhile, Fallon is also going to be making an appearance on “Saturday Night Live” next month for the final episode of the year. If you want more Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade coverage just click here.
