Thanksgiving Week TV: Are ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ or ‘Glee’ new tonight?

Here it is -As we’ve been doing all week long here at the site, we’re going to be your one-stop guide when it comes to answering one question: What’s new on TV tonight? This is a time of mass preemptions and repeats, with one of the big reasons for that being that today is Thanksgiving. Nobody wants to see their ratings suffer, and they know that it will be harder to bring in ratings while everyone’s busy with their families and sleeping off their turkey.

As you would expect, Thanksgiving night is hardly a big one when it comes to bringing in a ton of viewers, and unless you love marathons, movies, or holiday specials, there is not a whole lot on for you to enjoy. “The Big Bang Theory,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” NBC’s comedy lineup, and ‘”The Vampire Diaries” are among the shows sitting this one out, but they will all be back next week with some more episodes next week.

The only real exception to the rule here when it comes to regularly-scheduled programming is over on Fox, where there are new episodes of “The X Factor” and “Glee” airing. So why in the world would they do this? It’s really just a matter of trying to make sure that there is enough time for their seasons to finish before Christmas. “The X Factor” and “Glee” were delayed already earlier this season thanks to the baseball playoffs, and they had to make up some of that time somewhere. Who knows? Maybe this can become the sort of event for Fox that becomes a tradition … but we doubt it, given that “Glee” is moving to a new night in February. Not only that, but “The X Factor” is suffering some low ratings and may or may not actually be renewed for another season.

Our suggestion for you if you are trying to avoid NFL football today? Take a look at your DVR, or head online in order to catch up on some shows that you may have missed out on from earlier this year.
