‘The Mentalist’ season 6, episode 9 spoilers: Synopsis of Simon Baker-directed ‘My Blue Heaven’
Less than 48 hours after saying goodbye to the Red John case once and for all (unless there is some sort of awful twist that is still to come here), we have some more details about how “The Mentalist” is going to be moving forward into the next stage of the show’s life. It’s possible that the remaining episodes of the season are an epilogue to a possible cancellation coming at the end of the year, or that they are actually an opportunity to really be a new beginning for the character. Either way, it’s exciting to see what is coming up on the horizon.
Not only that, but it has now been confirmed that Simon Baker will be stepping into the director’s chair for “My Blue Heaven” on Sunday night, and will hope to show just how much Jane’s life has changed. The bad news that we have to share with you is that this is going to be airing at least half an hour later than usual; while it says that the start time is 10:30 p.m. Eastern time, it is hard to really take that as gospel:
“Two years after the Red John case was put to rest, Jane’s newfound peace is interrupted by a surprising job offer that could change everything for him, on THE MENTALIST, at a special time, Sunday, Dec. 1 (10:30–11:30 PM, ET, 10:00 – 11:00, PT) on the CBS Television Network. Episode directed by series star Simon Baker. Emily Swallow joins the cast as Kim Fischer.”
The identity of Fischer’s character is one of the greatest mysteries currently out there about the show. Is she a new love interest for Jane, or someone from his past who has come back into his life? We know that there is some sort of connection between the two, and it will be interesting to watch and see just how this plays out.
If you want to get a video peek of this episode, we suggest heading on over to the link here. This is going to be both an exciting and emotional hour, and we can’t wait to see how exactly it ends up playing out.

I’m glad the Red John story line is over, I was getting tired of it, you can only drag a story out for so long before people start to lose interest in it. Maybe Jane and Lisbon will hook up!
