‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9: See Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, and more celebrate 200

Get ready -

Any comedy that manages to get to 200 episodes really deserves some sort of medal; while we don’t have anything like that to give to “How I Met Your Mother” at the moment, it still does deserve some applause. It’s been on the air a long time, and last week, all of the cast members (even Bob Sagat!) got an opportunity to celebrate as a massive party for the show.

In the videos below via “Access Hollywood,” you can see everyone reminisce about some of their favorite moments, share how happy they are to have the support of the fans, and even look forward to the future of their own careers. Jason Segel claims that Alyson Hannigam helped to turn him into a “man,” Josh Radnor compares the schedule to being in school, and Neil Patrick Harris talks about all of the crazy stuff that they get to do every week.

One thing that Harris brings up that is extremely valuable to the show’s success (and often overlooked) is just what the workload is like for the cast. Unlike some other hour-long series, or even multi-camera comedies, the schedule is made easier here by not having a studio audience. These actors don’t have to feel like they have been completely driven into the ground by the show, and they’ve been able to do other things. Neil has hosted multiple awards shows, Cobie Smulders has the Marvel connection, Jason and Alyson have done movies, and Josh has made two movies. There are not too many other shows out there that will give you enough freedom and time to do that many other things.

As for Sagat, what’s interesting about him doing an interview is he’s had this unique experience of narrating Ted’s entire journey, even without every really being present for any of it. He’s probably the show’s unsung hero in that way, since it’s far harder to narrate than anyone ever realizes.

Cristin Milioti is also in the videos below, and while she may not have 200 episodes under her belt by any means, she does at least understand the cultural impact that this show has had over the years.

Speaking of great episodes, just be sure to click here if you haven’t gotten the opportunity yet to watch a preview for Monday night’s “Bedtime Stories.”
