‘The X Factor’ UK week 7 song spoilers: Rough Copy, Luke Friend, and familiar selections

The latest news -

In honor of the show’s tenth birthday this weekend, “The X Factor” UK has decided that it would be a cool idea to bring back some of the most-iconic songs ever either performed on the show, or recorded from its past alumni. It’s a pretty good idea in theory … but it fails in execution. Most of these songs are completely overdone and unoriginal; it’s like they just looked at the ones who sold billions of records, and then ignored an opportunity to make something into a hit for a change.

Take a look at a full list for some of the songs coming up, along with our impressions of all of them.

Hannah Barrett, “Hallelujah” – Really? We don’t see this song suiting her voice, and it’s been done so many times at this point that we ahve almost grown immune to it. Our two favorite singing-show versions remain Jason Castro’s on “American Idol,” and Matthew Schuler on “The Voice” Monday night. Lee DeWyze also gave a good “American Idol” version, which was picked for him by Simon Cowell.

Luke Friend, “What Makes You Beautiful” – Ugh. Don’t try to make Luke into One Direction. He’s not really a pop singer. He is going to probably put a twist on it, but he can only do so much with it to make it sound original.

Nicholas McDonald, “The Climb” – We’ve never really understood how a song from the “Hannah Montana” soundtrack ever became a hit, but let’s put a moratorium on it never being performed again. Can you imagine twerkin’ Miley Cyrus ever doing this song again?

Rough Copy, “Don’t Let Go” – Probably one of the better choices of the group, mostly because this is the only one of the list that we can actually see the group really sing.

Sam Bailey, “Bleeding Love” – Sam is going to completely kill this, and we have no doubt about it. Leona Lewis’ hit is one of the few from this show that has become a smash hit almost completely around the globe, at least unless you are talking a One Direction or Little Mix hit.

Tamera Foster, “Impossible” – This is at least the most recent song, and it should do well thanks to that. We really feel like Tamera really just needs all the help she can get right now, since Nicholas, Rough Copy, and Sam seem to be the most-likely top 3 out of the entire group.

Which one of these songs do you want to see perform on the show this weekend? Be sure to share your thoughts below, and click here if you want to read some more news related to “The X Factor.”
