‘Girls’ season 3 spoilers: What’s coming up for Shoshanna?

“Girls” season 3’s January premiere may still feel like a unreasonable amount of time away, so how about a little bit more dish to help get you through the long and possibly-painful wait? This time around, we’re putting the focus on Shoshanna, who is in somewhat of an interesting position going into the new year. For the first time in a while, she is single, but unlike at the start of the series, she is going to be in a different position courtesy of her having some actual experience now with Ray.

So is there hope for the two getting back together anytime soon? Don’t hold your breath, given that Zosia Mamet tells TVLine that the situation between the two of them “gets worse before it gets better.”

Mamet also adds that for most of the season, she spends a good deal of time working with the regular cast, including some characters that she has not had a lot of interaction with on the show thus far. This is something that season 2 of the show at times did really well; personally, the episode all about Adam and Ray remains in our top 3 favorites in the show’s short history, and we enjoy the sort of awkwardness that comes via people hanging out who are in the same social circle, but never really on their own together. That is something that really, quite a few people out there can relate to.

“Girls” season 3 will be back on the air on Sunday, January 12, which certainly is an appropriate number when you remember that there are also 12 episodes in a season. This means that you’ll have more opportunities than ever to get to know the characters more, and it won’t feel like the show is over in a snap of your finger.

In case you missed it recently, there was some other big “Girls” scoop that broke about Andrew Rannells’ return. Not only will he be back for part of the new season, but he is poised to become a series regular in season 4 if the show is picked up.
