NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5 spoilers: First look at Jeff Winger, Jim Rash in ‘Repilot’
We should start this “Community” article out by noting that there is a slight change in the episode title department: While Gillian Jacobs had recently suggested in a podcast interview that the premiere was titled “Repiloting,” the title actually seems to now be “Repilot.” Either way, it’s a pretty funny reference to how this is a return to the show that you hopefully loved in the first place, and a move away from that TV Voldemort that was most of season 4. (Confession: We liked around two and a half of the episodes.)
If there is one thing that apparently translates from one season of the show to the next, regardless of whether or not Dan Harmon is the showrunner, it is that Jeff Winger and Dean Pelton still have a “special” relationship. Or, as Jeff would probably prefer us to put it, the Dean is completely obsessed with him on a more-than-creepy level, and he is just a guy trying to get through school with at least some of his sanity intact. (Too late.)
The fact that Jeff shows up back at Greendale in a suit suggests that he has found some success in the real world since season 4 ended; then again, the fact that he is back at Greendale also probably suggests that he has not had too much success. As for the copious hug from Jim Rash’s character, it is pretty clear to us that this was a man who was never expecting to see Jeff back on campus again. This has to be the equivalent of Christmas morning for him, and he could not be any more excited if he tried.
As for some bonus “Community” scoop, the second episode of season 5 is going to be titled “Introduction to Teaching,” which seems like the sort of meta thing that the show would do. What better class for this show than a class about how properly teach a class? This episode will feature Jonathan Banks in a prominent role, and the article over at this link shows where you can get an opportunity to see his character for the first time (at least in an official promotional photo).

Nice articles! I just want to say that despite appearances, Jeff might have returned due to a carrot or a stick that the Dean devised. You know he would plot night and day to figure something out. And even though they are neighbors and the Dean probably saw him just this morning anyway, nothing is going to keep the Dean from his breathless How I Missed You scene. Right?
