‘Body of Proof’ season 4 hopes dead, says series star Dana Delaney

For those of you hoping that “Body of Proof” was somehow going to have an “Unforgettable” sort of resurrection on ABC this spring, there is some bad news coming out now: The show, like so many of its victims over the past three seasons, is going to stay dead.

Series star Dana Delaney confirmed the news on her Twitter account this week, summing up the feelings for fans everywhere in what is a message that you probably saw coming:

“Sorry to disappoint some, but #bodyofproof will not be resurrected. May she rest in peace. Time for new adventures!”

The reason why there were even rumors surrounding a possible revival of the show were based mostly around the performance of ABC’s new shows this year. “Lucky 7” has already been canceled, “Betrayal” is surely not getting a pickup for a full season, and while “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” will probably air its full order, it’s not going to be brought back for anything else. (Given that the latter is billed as a sort of limited series, it will at least get to have a conclusion.) While “Body of Proof” was never a hit with young people, it was a solid pitch-hitter for ABC and performed well with total viewers. The problem with the rumors starting up so late in the fall was likely that so many people both on and off-screen have new projects lined up, and trying to get the gang back together for even 13 more episodes would have been a near-impossible task.

Now, we will just have to wait and see what ABC has planned for the rest of its future instead. They need a show to perform well both Tuesdays and Sundays at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, and even some of the shows that have been picked up already for a season, such as “Trophy Wife” and “Super Fun Night,” are hardly ratings warriors. Even “Revenge” and the original “Once Upon a Time” are falling apart thanks to difficult second seasons.

What the hell is wrong with ABC? Finally a show that was worth waiting for each week. I set this program up as a series recording on my PVR. If the network is stupid enough to cancel the one program they had that was worth watching then they deserve to die a slow death at the hand of cable channels. Enjoy obscurity ABC – that’s where you are heading if you think reality tv is able to replace a good program. I will be looking elsewhere for something to watch. Perhaps Seinfeld reruns. Give me a reason to come back to your network. If you come up with another good program I expect that will be cancelled in short order also. Why even waste my time and your money on developing something good just to garbage it after you accumulate a following. Your day is done when your own people aren’t able to spot a winner and stick with it for any length of time. Good night and good luck. You’re going to need it.

so disappointing, seems to be happening an awful lot, just start to invest and feel a connection to the characters, then gone…. really enjoyed this program, found it funny, refreshing and interesting. Please stop taking off the good shows!!!! Good luck to the cast and crew in future endeavor’s.
