‘The Carrie Diaries’ season 2, episode 4 preview: Carrie’s new enemy … is a kid?

The Carrie Diaries -On next week’s new episode of “The Carrie Diaries,” we are going to see Carrie Bradshaw take some of her focus away from New York City for at least a few minutes for some family time; but, this is not going to be the sort of family time that she necessarily imagined. Instead, this is having to deal with who may very well be the most evil and insufferable small child ever, who belongs to the woman that her father is dating.

The only good thing that may come from this? Thanks to this little devil, she and Dorrit may have their best reason to get along in a very long time. The synopsis below teases a little bit about that and it also suggests a few details when it comes to a guy that could be a new love in Carrie’s life:

“Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) pitches Larissa (Freema Agyeman) a profile on New York wunderkind playwright Adam Weaver (guest star Chris Wood), but when he proves a difficult, yet fascinating, interview, Carrie’s job is on the line. Bennet’s rules in his relationship with Walt force Walt to acknowledge his real feelings. Carrie and Dorrit (Stefania Owen) are surprised to find a common enemy in Tom’s (Matt Letscher) girlfriend Deb’s (guest Nadia Dajani) son Dylan (guest star Dylan Clark Marshall). Meanwhile, Sebastian (Austin Butler) seeks comfort in the arms of someone new.”

What “The Carrie Diaries” has excelled at over the past several years now is pretty simple: Coming up with fun stories that present a little bit of a different take on the Carrie Bradshaw mythology. What we also appreciate this year is that some of the “Sex and the City” referencing is probably done away with to a certainly extent. A good comparison to it now may be the “Arrow” of shows starring a young woman. This is a series that does effectively a great job at presenting a story that feels familiar, but also still new. Not only that, but you do not get the impression that there is a ton of pressure to keep it faithful to the original anymore.
