‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 15, episode 6 preview: ADA Barba and some buddy trouble

There are some state elections that don’t get the same sort of attention as the race for Mayor of New York City. How many other Mayors do you know off of the top of your head? Do you even know your own? This election taking place on “Law & Order: SVU” is therefore a big one, especially since the end results of it are going to play a pretty critical role in ADA Barba’s life. A longtime friend of his was arrested for a horrible crime, and he is connected enough to a mayoral candidate to descend the entire ordeal into chaos.

“When ADA Barba’s (Raúl Esparza) childhood friend, Eddie Garcia (guest star Kirk Acevedo), is arrested for attempted rape, his connection to mayoral frontrunner Alex Muñoz (guest star Vincent Laresca) puts the campaign in jeopardy. But when an undercover investigation uncovers further misconduct by Muñoz himself, Detective Amaro (Danny Pino) and the SVU team wonder if Barba can put aside personal feelings to prosecute the men he used to idolize.”

If there is a theme that the show follows away from trying to do the right thing for the sake of serving justice, it is trying to make sure that the right people stay strong when they need to. This is what we can only hope happens here with Barba, and the good news here is that he has a number of other people at his side who could lend a helping hand to ensure that the right people are put behind bars, and old personal connections do not get in the way.

Given that tonight brought us the resignation of Richard Belzer’s John Munch, let’s hope that the show finds a way to increase the drama and then some.
