‘The Good Wife’ season 5, episode 4 preview: Carrie Preston returns; an unusual promo (video)
For whatever reason, the promo seems more interested at the moment in hyping up what is coming in two week’s time than what happens next, but it may make a bit more sense when you realize that the event that is being hyped right now is a pretty heated confrontation between Alicia and Will. Will’s been a bit of an emotional wreck as of late, but for some very good reasons. (Blame Diane for some of that and the Supreme Court drama.)
Also, the official synopsis below for the episode (via CBS) makes it clear that we will be seeing the return of Carrie Preston (“True Blood”) for an episode. Not only that, but she is going to be hired under some rather unusual circumstances, as the firm is looking for a little bit of help protecting itself from a substantial problem:
“Alicia represents a surrogate mother who is going against the wishes of the biological parents. However, arguments inside the firm threaten to overshadow those in court when Diane’s Supreme Court candidacy puts her at odds with Will. Also, the firm hires Elsbeth Tascioni to represent them in a lawsuit brought on by an employee.”
Given that “The Good Wife” won Preston an Emmy last year, it’s no surprise at all to see her back now. What we are perhaps a little more interested in seeing is what happens when “True Blood” ends. With the HBO show ending next year, isn’t it very well possible that she comes over here for a larger role? So long as a renewal happens, we certainly would not be altogether surprised.
