ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3, episode 2 preview: Fitz goes off on Mellie, Cyrus (video)

Tony Goldwyn’s going to continue to have some great material on next week’s all-new “Scandal” season 3 episode, especially when it comes to Fitz getting to react to the plans that everyone else has for him. The problem? All of these people, in his words, seem to be forgetting that he is the President of the United States. He is the one that calls the shots, and it is really just their responsibility to say and do almost anything that he tells for them to.

In this case, this includes Fitz forcing Mellie and Cyrus to try and clear the name of a woman who has done absolutely nothing wrong other than crush on him: Janine, who was set up in an elaborate scheme last week to be the “other woman” in the Presidential affair. Olivia and her Gladiators are already in the process of trying to fix this, as they were hired to do so at the end of this past episode. Even though this does put her in a crazy position, since she is possibly further implicating herself in doing so, she apparently still values justice enough to make it happen.

So what if Cyrus and Mellie don’t go along with the plan to give Janine a pass? In his words, there will be consequences, and we’re already pretty well excited to see just what those could possibly be. Our assumption would just be more insanity for them to deal with in office, but this sneak peek to us further validates one simple rule above all else: The President typically wins, and Mellie’s plans typically lose.
