‘Downton Abbey’ season 4, episode 2 preview: Michelle Dockery’s latest struggle to face
Michelle Dockery was one of the standouts of the “Downton Abbey” season 4 premiere for her portrayal of Lady Mary, a woman who started off this season completely stricken and almost silenced by grief. It was not until the closing minutes that she decided, with the help of Mr. Carson, to emerge from her deep depression and try to make something of her life once again.
But will her efforts to help take care of the family estate really go off without a hitch? Hardly, but the problem now is not going to be her own confidence; instead, her biggest hindrance is going to come from someone within her own family in Robert. Just take a look at the full synopsis below:
“Emerging from her grief, Mary starts to take an interest in the running of the estate, but is met with resistance from Robert … As Molesley’s fortunes worsen, Bates hatches a plan to help him … Out for a bit of fun, Rose gets into a sticky situation at a tea dance in York … Mrs Hughes urges Carson to let an old wound heal.”
You will remember Molesley’s struggles from the premiere courtesy of his inability to land a job as a new butler, whereas the “friend” that is mentioned here for Carson’s is someone that he refused to help out at all during the premiere. Since we do not know much about the Rose situation, save for the rumors that a fight could be involved, these other two stories are the ones that most intrigue us outside of the Mary plot.
