‘The Vampire Diaries,’ ‘The Originals’ collide in latest promo with Nina Dobrev, Joseph Morgan
Are you ready for a full night of vampire-related drama? We hope so, since both “The Vampire Diaries” and its spin-off show “The Originals” seem to be as poised as ever to deliver come Thursday, October 3.
The goal of the promo below for the two shows is very simple, but also extremely effective in promoting everything ahead. You have drama courtesy of Nina Dobrev’s Elena, a glamorous shot of Claire Holt’s Rebekah, and Joseph Morgan’s Klaus more or less just being Klaus. The goal of putting these two shows back to back on the first night is to try and get people hooked on “The Originals” who watch the flagship show already.
After this first initial airing, the spin-off is going to move over to its new time slot on Tuesday nights, where it will serve as a lead-in to “Supernatural.” While we understand the nerves associated with not having a sole night associated with all things vampire, know this: The last time a show was the lead-off hitter for “Supernatural,” it was “Arrow” … and we think this ended up working out rather well at the end of the day. The bigger concern is going to be seeing if “The Originals” can master the intensity of the original show, and also create the same sort of passionate fan following, where supporters will follow the characters adventures like they know them as friends.
What do you think is going to happen with these two shows? For those of you who are specifically “Vampire Diaries” fanatics, click here to see a new behind-the-scenes photo featuring Ian Somerhalder brooding like only he can.
