‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi dine together as we prepare for transition
The next several months are going to be weird ones when it comes to the “Doctor Who” universe. We are basically going to be waving goodbye to a Doctor in Matt Smith who has become almost like a television friend to so many of us, and then also waving hello to a new star of the show in Peter Capaldi. He will first surface presumably during the show’s Christmas special, which is being filmed in the months ahead.
So how are these two men starting to become acquainted to each other? Well, the answer to that is in the same way that men have been getting acquainted with each other for so many years now: By dining out together! The two were reportedly spotted out recently, and it is only natural to be curious about just what in the world these two could be talking about.
While being the Doctor is indeed one of the most exciting gigs on TV, we also do not doubt that there are some immense pressures that come with it. For one, you have to deal with the fact that someone expects you to be on your game almost all of the time if you meet them in the street, and there is virtually no opportunity for privacy at all when going anywhere. Luckily, Capaldi has been in the entertainment business for decades, and may be better prepared to handle some of this than if he was just landing the role straight out of nowhere. Even Smith, who was largely unknown to many before the gig, proved to be a great example of handling the role with dignity in the social-media age.
