ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6 spoilers: Jon Huertas and the latest Lanie / Esposito update

While Caskett fans when it comes to “Castle” may be extremely vocal, there is really no denying at this point that Lanie and Esposito also have their own unique place with the fans. They’ve been at times the forgotten couple; even though there are reasons to root for them, we go long stretches of time without really seeing any glimmer of hope that they are going to be together in the long run. Take, for example, literally almost all of last season.

But the good news is that there will be some story coming up for them in the fall … but you may still have to wait for at least a little while, given that Jon Huertas told TVLine at the time of a recent set visit that he and Tamala Jones had yet to film any romantic scenes together. Therefore, don’t expect anything in the first handful of episodes, which are already set in stone from a shooting standpoint.

Unfortunately for shippers of this couple, there is another problem that you have to keep watch on, as well: Tori Ellis, who played the forensics expert that Esposito seemed to have some sort of interest in at the end of season 5, is poised to make one more appearance herself. That means that whatever happened between these two is not over, even if it is just flirtation. This in turn means that Lanie has a rival, and if these two want to figure this out, they better stop dilly-dallying around it and act soon. There’s only so long that the “friends with benefits” label is going to work before real feelings get hurt … and we’re clearly getting there already.
