ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: More drama, grief for Tony Goldwyn’s Fitz

Exciting things are coming for the upcoming third season of “Scandal,” but so is a pretty substantial amount of tragedy. While death is not an every-episode sort of occasion for this show, we are still nonetheless familiar with it. It’s still terrible to see it strike, given that Shonda Rhimes has long established a reputation as a take-no-prisoners showrunner not afraid to make big, surprising moves with her cast.

So sadly, death is coming again pretty soon on the ABC hit. E! News reports that the incident will strike in the fourth episode of the season, and there are too small teasers that we can give you on it now:

1. The character is not one of the main people in the cast, so you will not be seeing a major shake-up.

2. They will be close to Tony Goldwyn’s Fitz, and will cause him to suffer through some pain and guilt when they are taken away. This is only surprise given the level of guilt he felt upon effectively killing someone last year that was desperate to take him down.

Fitz looks almost as though he is never going to get his life together at this point, given that this is without even bringing up the news that his secret with Olivia is out there for everyone to hear at this point. This is going to lead to him having to make a decision with Mellie early on, and then sticking to it. Given that the entire country will be watching him now, it’s not exactly going to be so easy for him to just go and do whatever he wants.
