Stephen Colbert strikes hilarious revenge on Daft Punk with Jeff Bridges, Jon Stewart

Some people claim that Daft Punk’s track “Get Lucky” is the “Song of the Summer,” and this may quite possibly be the official viral video of the summer: Stephen Colbert getting revenge on the act for having to cancel their appearance on “The Colbert Report” this week.

The reason for the cancellation is tied to their upcoming performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, so let it be known that it was not something that they necessarily wanted to do. Ultimately, though, it feels like Daft Punk’s absence was Colbert’s gain, as he made it a point to compensate for not having them by spending some time living it up with some celebrities while dancing to the song.

Among the famous faces in this performance are Jeff Bridges, Jon Stewart (via Skype from the Middle East), Bryan Cranston (and briefly the rest of the “Breaking Bad” cast), Matt Damon, the Radio City Rockettes, Nick Cannon and the “America’s Got Talent” judging panel, Hugh Laurie, and even his former Best Friend for Six Months in Jimmy Fallon. It may quite possibly be the greatest thing ever, mostly thanks to Colbert’s pure commitment to his terrible dance moves, and the general feeling that even Daft Punk would laugh at this.

The entire video is also just put together very well, and it feels like everyone, even Henry Kissinger of all people, was in on the joke that was happening. We would also like to point out that during the “America’s Got Talent” portion, Howie Mandel was the last one to give him a buzzer. Maybe he was enjoying it?
