NBC’s ‘The Voice’ notes: Danielle Bradbery, Cassadee Pope, and … Jennifer Lopez?

The VoiceJennifer Lopez rejected? – Well, take this rumor with a grain of salt, but it is still pretty interesting to hear nonetheless. According to the New York Post, the former “American Idol” judge was actually rejected recently in her effort to get some sort of performance or mentoring spot on season 5 of “The Voice.”

The reason that we are skeptical about this is that despite the report from the New York Post, there is no real reason to do this unless she really was desperate for ratings or to stick it to her former show. Given that she’s already a millionaire countless times over, we don’t get it. What this really does show above all is that NBC and the producers are looking more for artists to appear here who do not have an extensive reality-TV career already.

Danielle Bradbery – Danielle has been on a radio tour lately in promotion of “The Heart of Dixie,” her brand-new single being sent out to country radio this month. This performance comes courtesy of 94.9 The Bull, one of many stations that she’s hoping to get some sort of attention from. If you thought that “The Voice” auditions were tough, showing up for radio gigs is just as terrifying. It’s a grind of several weeks, and if you aren’t nice or leave a bad impression, these DJs and station managers are not going to be so inclined to play your song.

Cassadee Pope – Finally, check out Cassadee performing the National Anthem at the Brickyard 400 this week, where she proved that regardless of what singing show you are on, you can be an excellent performer of the patriotic track for years to come. Overall, there’s quite a bite to Cassadee’s version: She hit the notes really well, and the NASCAR audience (who can be a finicky bunch) embraced her fully.
