‘The Good Wife’ season 5 spoilers: ‘True Blood’s’ Carrie Preston officially returns
If you ever even remotely worried about seeing Carrie Preston make a return to “The Good Wife” at some point this season, we have the following bit of news to cheer you up: Her return to the CBS show is now official.
TVLine reports that Preston, who has been busy for most of this year filming the sixth season of “True Blood,” has multiple episodes ahead as her memorable character Elsbeth Tascioni. This will allow her to go over the ten-episode mark as the super-intelligent lawyer, who first showed up during the inaugural season. You have to believe that one of the contributing factors here was Preston finally getting an Emmy nomination for the part, and the network realizing that they have to milk that for just about all it’s worth.
Carrie is not always the easiest guest actor in the world to book, mostly because she’s not like the majority of other people who has pockets of openings here and there. She is booked up solid for over half of the year being a human in a world dominated by vampires, and the fall is really the only time that she has a window to appear unless her character Arlene goes on hiatus or she gets lucky with production dates.
You had to wonder whether one show ending would enable her to spend more time on the other, but that has not happened here. Neither series shows any sign of coming to a close, even if the ratings for each have started to slowly deteriorate over the past several years. “The Good Wife” remains CBS’ most critically-acclaimed show, while HBO has to be happy that “True Blood” brings in so many viewers both live and throughout the week.
As per always, “The Good Wife” has around a million accomplished guest stars coming on board the show this season, and if you want to read more about this, the best thing that you can do is head over to the link here.
