‘Glee’ season 5: See Chris Colfer’s first public comments about Cory Monteith

While many “Glee” stars have already spoken out at this point about the tragic death of Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer had been one of the few to hold out until this week. Then again, this did make some sense. He was around Cory since the days of the show’s pilot years ago, when both of them came in as largely-undiscovered actors who were trying to break out. They each did, and formed a unique and special friendship along the way. Their on-screen parents married each other, and some of their most powerful scenes were with each other.

The entire cast and crew of the show got together for a memorial on Thursday, and following it Chris posted a simple message on Twitter that also contained a little bit of humor:

“I’ll never forget all the laughs we shared or the faces we made after awkward interview questions. Love and miss you, buddy.”

Yes, this message is also an acknowledgment that actors are aware when they are being asked something ridiculous by reporters; but doing press tours and other promotional events for their show is just one of the many ways that this cast bonds with each other beyond just filming scenes for the show.

Now that the memorial is complete, hopefully the entire cast will feel a greater sense of healing and be able to move forward with what is going to be a difficult next month or so, especially when it comes to the episode that addresses the death of Monteith’s character of Finn.

One of the few “Glee” cast members to not speak publicly to this point is Cory’s girlfriend Lea Michele, though her representative has released a series of statements thanking supporters and asking for privacy.
