‘Homeland’ season 3 spoilers: Howard Gordon on Damian Lewis, Claire Danes, more
It’s been all quiet as of late on the “Homeland” front, and the only reasoning we can think of for this right now is simply that the show has now reached a certain part in production where if you say anything about the storyline that could be coming up in the future, Nicholas Brody will hunt you down and do something about it. (Which, we hope, is not going to involve doing anything to your pacemaker.)
The biggest mystery going into this season is clearly how Damian Lewis is going to be involved, given that no one has said much of anything at all about this just yet. Unfortunately for you, there are also not many answers coming up in the near future, based on what showrunner Howard Gordon said (per TV Fanatic) while at the TCA this week to promote his new series “Legends.”
Specifically, he talked in terms of whether or not Brody and Claire Danes’ Carrie would be able to stay away from each other forever, and he (shocker!) said that at the end of the day, their connection will likely keep their separation from being permanent on at least an emotional level:
“It’s a question in a way even though their lives are adjacent they’re very connected still. You feel the gravitational pull of the relationship even though they may not be in the same physical space.”
What we really want to see “Homeland” return to above all else in the new season is the sort of storytelling that really made us love the show in the first place: Intense political storylines, and not reminders that this is some sort of twisted love story. Carrie’s talent is far too significant to just be pasted on loving a guy who has succeeded in lying in every manner possible.
The last “Homeland” casting news we had comes from a little bit earlier in the month, and you can check that out over here.
