‘The Mindy Project’ season 2 spoilers: Kris Humphries cast … seriously
There is almost a part of this casting that makes us want to stand up and give Mindy Kaling a round of applause, before we even know what exactly Kris Humphries is going to be doing on “The Mindy Project.” But getting a guy best known for something rather ridiculous (such as being married to Kim Kardashian for 72 days) is a pretty bold move, and we love bold moves … and we’re pretty sure that Mindy is not really counting on fans of Kim and company to watch her show in the first place.
TV Guide first reported this news, and of course Humphries is going to be playing himself. When your own name is such a target for ridicule and/or laughs, why try to be someone else? (We’re poking fun at the guy, but hats off for being willing to poke fun at himself, too. Can’t always be easy.) This gig is probably just going to be for an episode, given that Humphries has a bench that he needs to prepare to sit on somewhere.
“The Mindy Project” is thankfully assembling a great roster of guest-stars to help combat the fact that very few people actually watched the first season, and they include James Franco and Adam Pally (coming over from the brilliant-but-canceled “Happy Endings”), who will be around for multiple episodes to boot. What’s somewhat interesting is that while we’ve heard a dozen or so things about the future of Kaling’s show, her lead-in “New Girl” has stayed remarkably silent. Who knew that Jess, Winston, Schmidt, and Nick would be so secretive?
