2013 Fox fall schedule: ‘Bones’ season 9 on Fridays; ‘New Girl’ season 3 goes Super

FoxIf you will indulge us for a minute, we would like to start things off with the not-so-subtle admission that we totally called “New Girl” getting the chance to air following the Super Bowl early next year. Fox confirmed the news Monday morning at their upfront presentation, and also added that one of their brand-new comedies would join it in an hour of “please give us higher ratings.”

Before we hand over Fox’s fall schedule, a few notes: The network confirmed that 12 episodes of “24” have been ordered for next summer, and it could be ordered again if the ratings are strong enough. Hooray, Jack Bauer fans! Meanwhile, the series “Wayward Pines” from M. Night Shyamalan will premiere in the summer.

We like to do something a little bit different when it comes to writing about schedules (see our NBC one for a template): We have some super-quick analysis to go with everything that we post.

Mondays – “Bones” and “Sleepy Hollow” are going to rock out the lineup early on in the year, but in the late fall this will shift somewhat. New series “Almost Human,” which has some great buzz behind it, will start following baseball playoffs in the place of “Bones,” and “The Following” will relieve “Sleepy Hollow” in the new year.

Tuesdays – This one’s a little easier. Seth MacFarlane’s “Dads” leads off the night, and is followed by new comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (starring Andy Samberg), “New Girl,” and “The Mindy Project.”

Wednesdays – Simple as always. “The X Factor” in the fall, “American Idol” in the spring.

Thursdays – The results shows for both the aforementioned talent shows will air here. Meanwhile, “Glee” will start things off here in the fall before being replaced by the law drama “Rake” starring Greg Kinnear. “Glee” will pick this spot back up in the late spring, and run on the network until June.

Fridays – New competition “Junior MasterChef” will start things off at 8:00, before getting replaced by “Bones” (shocker) later on in the fall. Meanwhile, the 9:00 spot is help for repeats in the fall, but will host “Raising Hope” and new comedy “Enlisted” in the spring.

Sundays – It’s exactly what you expect: “The Simpsons,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “Family Guy,” and “American Dad.” If it ain’t broke…

This is an interesting schedule for sure, but what we find perhaps most intriguing is Fox going ahead and admitting that “Bones” is probably just one or two seasons from the end, and they can sacrifice it to Friday to make way for new shows. It’s a bit disrespectful to it as a lead-in, but we’ll see if this actually works.

Do you think this is the end of our chatter about Fall TV? Think again! We’re going to be talking about some of these shows all summer long, and you can find our coverage here.
