‘Ray Donovan’ episode 3 preview: One dysfunctional family

If there is one overarching criticism that we have with Showtime’s “Ray Donovan” at the moment, it is the notion of Ray’s wife being so dumb at times to what he thinks and feels about certain subjects … and this includes what he wants to see done in relation to his father. Even though Ray clearly does not want the man around, she is still willing to not only meet him in public, but have the couple’s children do the same. Why aren’t these two on the same page with an issue as important as this, and why didn’t Ray ever really tell his own wife just how bad of a man he really is?

In the sneak peek below, we have even more evidence as to just how terrible the rift between these two parties has become, to the point where Ray just shows up, collects some things, and then leaves again. The only real commentary he offers us is briefly saying that he wants her to attend some sort of party, and for her to buy something nice for it.

Eventually, we imagine that this father / son conflict is going to come to a head in a pretty bad way, and that everyone else is going to get caught in the crosshairs. We just hope that Ray’s family stays safe as they find out that Mickey is not exactly the man that he says that he is, as the violence is probably only going to be ratcheted up from here on out.
