Big Brother 28: Devens’ Diamond Power of Veto, explained

If you caught the news on the Big Brother 28 live feeds tonight, it is official: Rick Devens has the Diamond Power of Veto! So what all does it do for his game?

Well, it feels pretty easy to say that this is an extremely powerful advantage (thanks to the BB Time Capsule and America’s vote) that could radically later the next several weeks of the game. It is good for six weeks and with that, he not only can take someone off the block, but name a replacement nominee. Matt from Big Brother 12 is famous for using this, but there is a slight wrinkle to it now given that the BB Blockbuster is still in play. That means that theoretically, anyone named ill still get to fight for their safety.

At present, the only person to know about Devens’ power beyond him is Dee, who is his #1 ally — he is not even planning to tell Angela at this point! This means that the two have a lot of power and options when it comes to how they play the next several weeks — more likely than not, they will just wait until one of them is in danger and act. Of course, we imagine that if they are on the block together, Rick will use it for himself … but there is still a chance that he wins the regular and Diamond Veto in the same week. Anything feels possible in that way.

In general, we do tend to think that this power could very-well carve a path for Rick to make it to jury, especially since the Toolshed, his part of the house, continues to win power. For those unaware Kamu is Head of Household and using that power, he nominated Mallory, Lyric, and Lala.
