Big Brother 28: Can Rick Devens actually win?
Heading into the Big Brother 28 premiere on CBS in a couple of days, let’s just say that we have a pretty big casting surprise. Who anticipated Rick Devens coming on board?
The Survivor 50 alum’s participation in the season was first reported today by Entertainment Weekly, and it certainly marks the biggest get for the reality show in terms of notoriety. He is someone who generates a lot of attention for the big moves he made throughout the season, and also helped to deliver arguably the moment of the season with the Mr. Beast coin flip. (Also, this was the only celebrity cameo during the season that worked on just about any level.)

There is no denying that there is a lot of excitement that comes around Rick being a part of the cast for the new season. However, does he stand any chance at all of winning? That is the part that still remains at least somewhat of a mystery, given his reputation for playing hard and wanting to make big moves. The worst-case scenario here is simply that he finds himself getting bored and wants to stir things up for the heck of it — which is fundamentally the thing that could land him in a certain amount of drama.
Ultimately, the thing that could work the most against Devens is that Survivor 50 aired such a short amount of time ago, which means that this season and everything that happened is still really fresh in everyone’s mind. He will have to figure out a way to get people to let their guard down and if that happens, there is at least a small chance that he can make it far and then go on a competition run. Winning does still feel like a remote possibility in that way.
