Love Island USA season 8 episode 27: Who got dumped?

We know that there was a lot of business that Love Island USA season 8 episode 27 had to take on from start to finish tonight. First and foremost, we had a recoupling. Beyond that, though, the islanders had to cast some votes for the least compatible people. Not everyone was going to make it through the night and ultimately, that makes a good bit of sense — remember that it has been a really long season!

As with many other recouplings on this show, we were watching a situation where some pairings were a sure thing and some others were up in the air. Gal was one of the x-factors, as he had a relationship with Jen but he told her that it wasn’t really working. Meanwhile, he has wanted to get to know Amora better. Carl had never had a chance to directly choose to be with Aniya but at the same time, it felt like this relationship was more or less a lock and a done deal.

Everything with the ceremony started up as expected, with Bryce & Trinity, Zach & Kayda, and Corbin & Parmida staying together. Dylan got past the issues at Movie Night quickly enough to choose Kenzie, and Carl delivered one of the best lines ever in choosing Aniya. KC then chose Tierra, and Sincere chose Melanie — which was not a shock. The bigger question was whether she’d be okay with it and for now, she is. Caleb and Jaiden did have an argument during the episode, but he still chose her.

Then, we got to Gal, who had the final decision. Amora told him that Jen had bad-mouthed him, but it almost feels like it had an adverse result — it concerned him that it was just coming up now. Yet, he chose Amora! That left Jen standing on her own … and she was dumped. Jen never got her due all season and it’s sad — she was a slow burn, but also became more compelling over time.

Technically, the vote was supposed to be based on compatibility, but it was also fascinating to see some people consider some other variables here, including long-term prospects and drama. The easy choices were Gal & Amora and Caleb & Jaiden, so it was hardly a shock given recent events. There were a couple of surprise votes, including Kenzie & Dylan and Melanie & Sincere getting some their way. In the end, though, Gal & Amora and Caleb & Jaiden were sent packing.
