Brilliant Minds season 3: Why isn’t it happening at NBC?

Given that tonight marks the Brilliant Minds season 2 finale over at NBC, now does feel like the perfect time to ask the following: Why is this it? Why are we not getting a season 3?
Unfortunately, the news has been out there for months that we have reached the end of the road for the medical drama starring Zachary Quinto. The network indicated a while ago that they were canceling the show, seemingly due to its live+same-day ratings. While these are not a death sentence for a lot of shows out there, it can make it really prohibitive unless the streaming service manages to generate a lot of viewership for it.

So is there any chance at all following the finale that Brilliant Minds gets a chance to return somewhere else? Of course, this is a really fun thing to consider. However, at the same time the odds of it are extremely low. After all, let’s just start by noting that few streamers are doing what they can to pick up canceled shows — typically, the ones that do come as a result of extensive fan campaigns. We’re not sure that we ever had that with this one on the level we’ve seen with Manifest and some other places in the past. Never say never, but the more likely scenario here is that Quinto and the rest of the cast end up booking some other roles elsewhere.
In the end, we really just have to sit back and hope that everyone enjoyed the first two seasons of the show. Also, that they come away feeling satisfied with what we got in the finale. It is a bummer that the show has been effectively burned off in the summer, a time in which there are not anywhere near as many viewers out there.
Are you disappointed that we are not going to be seeing a Brilliant Minds season 3 turn up somewhere?
