2013 Teen Choice Awards analysis: Honey Boo Boo, ‘Dance Moms,’ and a crazy category

We’re not really sure in some ways why the Teen Choice Awards have a “Choice Reality Star” category in the first place, mostly because it does feel rather ridiculous in the first place that this show is choosing to give us a category here that feels almost inevitably like a win for the Kardashian family. There’s really only one person on this list of popular females who can beat them, and we’ll have that pick for you very soon.

The nominees – Honey Boo Boo, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” (TLC), Danielle Jonas, “Married to Jonas” (E!), the Kardashians and Jenners, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” (E!), Abby Lee Miller, “Dance Moms” (Lifetime), Tia & Tamera Mowry, “Tia & Tamera” (Style)

The favorite – It’s the Kardashians without a doubt. They dominate the headlines, they’ve made millions off of their fame, and while there are plenty of people out there who hate them, there are also plenty of people out there who love them. It’s hard to discount that sort of thing. The only real obstacle in their way could be Danielle Jonas, though this is based mostly on the fact that she has the Jonas fan following on her side.

Who should win – It’s not so much that we’re against reality stars being nominated, but we don’t care so much for those that are just out to cause drama. That’s why we’ll side here either with Jonas or the Mowry sisters, since their shows are the least wacky when it comes to causing drama. (Of course, Honey Boo Boo beating Kim would be kind of hilarious.)
