The Vampire Lestat season 3 episode 4: The Gabriella story ahead

We would come into this piece now to state that Gabriella is a polarizing character on The Vampire Lestat but at the same time, is that not obvious? This is someone who has had a particularly complicated history with the title character — there is the fact that they are mother and son, but also what this has evolved into when it comes to Gabriella as a vampire.

Have there been significant changes from the source material at times in regards to her? Absolutely but based at least on what we are hearing right now, there is a plan as to where all of this is going.

In speaking on this further right now via TV Insider, here is what writer and executive producer Hannah Moscovitch had to say:

“I think we arrive back at the place Anne Rice wanted us to, I hope, I hope … But I think that’s where we were. That’s all I’m thinking about this season: What is it like to become a vampire when you’ve lived in a cage and you’ve lived a life that’s only deferred dreams and spoiled hopes? … Gabriella is living in a cage because she’s living in a particular era as a woman, and she’s locked into this horrible marriage and being forced to have all these babies who die or are just like their dad, on one hand. And then the only kid that is like her, or that she has anything in common with, is Lestat, of course, so there’s a natural pull between them. And then, of course, for her, there’s an absolute liberation when she’s a vampire. That full liberation out of being a mother or a woman or anything leads to what it leads to.”

The complicated truth with Lestat, meanwhile, is that he is never quite able to present himself fully in a way that his mother may want. After all, remember that this is someone who is torn constantly between many different relationships in his life and then also this new rock-star whim he is on.
