Widow’s Bay season 2 spoilers: More Jeff Hiller incoming?

This is the first week in a good while where there is no Widow’s Bay episode airing on Apple TV — and of course, that is sad. How can it not be? This show was funny, entertaining, and above all else creative.

In the end, it is our hope that the story is going to be bolder and even more creative moving forward — so will that include a chance more of Jeff Hiller? The guy certainly deserves having a larger presence as Dale, and we are pleased that he is still alive and out there. After all, we have learned that originally, the character was meant to be killed off during the season!

Speaking to the Television Academy, show creator Katie Dippold notes that her affection for the character (and Hiller) caused Dale to survive far longer than expected:

I know. I originally had a character named Dale that was really only in there to die in a very big way. I called Jeff — he’s an old comedy friend of mine from our 20s — and said, “Listen, I have a part. It’s not as big of a part as you deserve, and you’re going to die. Do you want to do it?” And he was like, “Yeah, why not?” I just love him. He’s so great and so funny. So, I ended up rewriting the show to have more and more for him to do. He’s just the best.

Now, we tend to think that Dale could have a surprisingly pivotal role in everything that is coming up. After all, remember for a moment that he is the only one who directed saw the footage detailing the storm shelter’s dark past. Who is he going to tell, and when?
