Widow’s Bay season 2: Are there hopes for so much more?

We are excited to know that a Widow’s Bay season 2 is coming to Apple TV and per all the information we have, creator Katie Dippold is eager to make it as quickly as possible — without sacrificing quality of course.

So would this lead into a season 3? Spin-offs? Something else? Given the runaway success of the first season, it does honestly feel like any and all options are currently on the table. That could include a prequel giving us a sense of all the crazy things that happened in the days prior to Tom being the Mayor.

So how do we know that Apple is interested in any and all options related to the future of the show? Let’s just say that an executive is even talking about it! Speaking to Vulture, here is some of what Apple TV head of programming Matt Cherniss had to say:

“Katie’s spoken about this being a universe as much as a show … So the more stories she has to tell with these characters and this world and this tone, the better.”

The great thing about this show in particular is that viewers are still discovering it, meaning that by the time that season 2 comes around, you are going to be able to have an even larger audience and more attention all around it. We do not tend to think that its success will in any way dilute the product or change Dippold’s thinking regarding the story. This is someone who spent several years working on the project, including even holding it back when she could have sold the idea prior to Apple acquiring it. We are beyond excited to see what she and the entire team could be cooking up next.
