Dexter: Resurrection season 2 spoilers: New Michael C. Hall tease

The hope here remains that Dexter: Resurrection season 2 is going to be premiering on Showtime a little later this year. So what exactly will the story be moving forward?
If you have been attuned to various reports over the past few months, then you may have a small sense as to what is coming. Brian Cox has been cast as the New York Ripper, which does give the series a significant punch heading into the next chapter. Meanwhile, you’ve also got Dan Stevens coming on board as a new villain — and who knows who from the past could turn up?

Of course, nobody is going to give major spoilers at this point — but why not at least share more thematic teases? Speaking to Gold Derby, here is what Michael C. Hall was willing to share:
I don’t want to give anything away, but we’re going to flash-forward a little bit. We’ll see Dexter on the other side of this crazy encounter he had with all the killers presented to him by the magical, very dark world that Prater provided. We see a guy who’s undeniably on the other side of a lot of experience and getting older and, maybe in spite of himself, caring about a sense of his legacy. Dexter, as he becomes more human, or more integrated with the light and the dark, or the human and the monster, falls victim to all-too-human things in a way that he once didn’t. One of those is maybe a desire to be recognized, and that’s a tricky thing when your survival is dependent on hiding.
Dexter becoming more human means, at least in some way, that he has more to lose — we know that he tried to fake it before, especially when it comes to Astor, Cody, and Rita. Can he actually be a little more “real” while also remaining a serial killer? Only time will tell.
