Dutton Ranch season 1 episode 7: Aftermath of Chet’s death

Now that we are on the other side of losing Chet on Dutton Ranch, what will season 1 episode 7 take some of these characters?

Obviously, Chet’s demise could create a ripple effect for a number of characters — take Miguel, who can feel a sense of greater confidence in his place at the ranch. Yet, at the same time, it may be an opportunity for Rob-Will to be able to take even more power and control, something that the character does very much want.

Speaking to TVLine in the aftermath of episode 6 airing, here is some of what Jai Courtney himself had to say about losing Chet — and beyond that, what it does really mean in the long-term:

“There’s obviously a history and a loyalty between them, but it’s pretty obvious by now that Rob-Will is mostly out for himself … Chet is a bit of a pawn in the game, I dare suggest. You can’t get to the top without breaking a few eggs, you know what I mean?”

In general, it does feel like Rob-Will is certainly the kind of man who is capable of causing a lot more carnage before the season is over. We know that he is not just power-hungry, but also unstable. Do we imagine that there are more sides to him beyond what we’ve seen so far? Absolutely, and we say that mostly through the lens of all the other emotional volatile people that we have had a chance to see through this world over the course of time. Why would anything be all that different now?

There are only a handful of episodes left this season and while we do expect a season 2 to happen, who knows what could transpire when we get to that point?
