Love Island USA season 8 episode 8: Recoupling results delayed; why?

We had gone into tonight’s Love Island USA season 8 episode 8 expecting that there would be some results to the latest recoupling vote.

However, that did not come to pass during the installment and as it turns out, there is a pretty sensible reason for it: One tied to the recent voting crash on the app. The Peacock series had more votes than ever before and by virtue of that, they had to extend voting longer than planned. That meant that they had to delay the recoupling ceremony, mostly due to the fact that the show takes place in close to real time.

Now, the irony that comes with doing all of this is that some of the results may feel akin to “go figure” based on how we think America voted. For starters, it feels pretty clear that we could be seeing Kenzie end up with Caleb. Meanwhile, Gabriel could end up paired with Jen and from there, we may see Sol with Sincere. This is at least the easy way to imagine things going and if this happens, Beatriz, Corbin, and Melanie could be on the outside looking in depending on where things go.

Some of the more interesting stuff from tonight’s episode had a lot to do with some of the friendships that exist in the villa. Kenzie felt hurt that Melanie spent some time with Corbin, even though she had another connection elsewhere. Meanwhile, Bryce decided that he wanted to have a conversation with Zach regarding his feelings for Kayda, a possible connection that he did want to explore. He then talked to Trinity, but did he put some seeds of doubt in her mind?
