The Circle season 8 moving from Netflix to Hulu

After seven seasons over at Netflix, it looks as though Hulu is looking to try and do something new when it comes to The Circle.

According to a new report from Deadline, the reality competition show has landed at a new streaming home, which makes sense for a number of reasons. Even though Netflix had the show for so many seasons, it honestly felt like the streamer was never quite the perfect show for it. This feels instead like one that is better as a week-to-week experience or something close where viewers can talk and debate the strategy that we’re getting to watch.

There are two things that are going to make the new iteration of The Circle a little bit different from what we have seen before. First and foremost, the series is going to be using a quick production model to make it a little different from the Netflix original — this could also help there to be more public votes. In other words, they are seeing what Love Island is doing and want to implement something similar for themselves.

Meanwhile, the plan here is for there to be a “celebrity” component in the cast. What celebrity means obviously is up for debate, since it could be similar to The Traitors over at Peacock where you have a lot of reality stars mixed with the occasional athlete and celebrity known for something else. As for whether these people would play as themselves or opt to become a catfish, that remains to be seen. We’re just glad to have the concept back, even if we are currently stuck waiting to see just when the show will actually be able to premiere.
