IT: Welcome to Derry season 2 premiere date: June 2026 update
Is there any chance that we are going to hear more about IT: Welcome to Derry season 2 before we get to the end of the month? Just how long are we going to be stuck waiting until we get something official?
The crazy thing that we honestly have to share from the get-go here is that there is still technically no renewal for the IT prequel / sort-of-sequel series over at HBO. Everyone involved keeps saying that it is coming, but we certainly recognize that it is frustrating not having it actually in front of us.

For a moment, we will try to give the network the benefit of the doubt here and assume that it is coming. If that is really the case, when are we going to actually see it back on the network?
Well, this is where we do have to share the unfortunate reality that the longer we go before a renewal is ordered, the more it seems like we could be waiting until 2028 to see what is next. We may not like that at all and yet, is there any other recourse? Remember that season 2 would be set even further back in time, and that means that you would need to cast a whole new group of actors. That is without even getting into filming, post-production, visual effects, and a whole lot more. There is so much work that needs to be done and the process of doing all of this may take a considerable amount of time.
Now, let’s just sit back and hope here that good things really do come to those who wait — a great deal of patience could be required here.
