The Testaments season 2: Will we learn about Daisy’s parents?

We know that heading into The Testaments season 2 there are a lot of unresolved stories that could still be addressed. However, one question has really been out there since the start of the series: Are we going to be learning the truth about Daisy’s mother or father?

Ultimately, showrunner Bruce Miller was keenly aware of the fact that it would be hard to follow the Margaret Atwood source material here, largely due to the fact that the ages for the TV show did not properly line up for her to be Nichole. They are clearly going in a different direction with this Daisy but at the same time, keeping the cards close to the vest.

Speaking to Variety recently, Miller noted that he did still want to honor the source material in some way

I did try to keep that June is very much a mother figure and a protector to Daisy, and someone who has kept an eye on her growing up, so very much a mother figure. Where she comes from, we have a few ideas. It depends on a few things, but we definitely have ideas. And I’ve loved the conversation about it online. Oh my God, it’s been fantastic. People are so clever. I wish I could have kept the book exactly the way it was, but…

We do tend to think that this is not something that the writers need to rush, mostly due to the fact that it may not impact her story in the immediate present. Yet at the same time, it would inform not just her character, but also June at the same time. After all, it would explain more to us why she has worked as hard as she has to be there for Daisy if she has a larger personal investment.
