Widow’s Bay season 1 episode 4: That Reverend Bryce shocker!

There are so many things that we are left to think about following the events of Widow’s Bay season 1 episode 4, but the top one appears to be pretty darn simple: Nothing in the town should be the same after this. After all, how can it?

For most of the (excellent) installment, it appeared as though the top story was inevitably going to be Sunset Cocktails with Patricia, which turned into an absolute disaster when we learned that most of the attendees were either drugged or possessed. (Or, was this a magic spell?) In the end, she eventually hightailed off with Mayor Tom and Wyck, and this brought us to the other surprise in the closing moments: The apparent death of one Reverend Bryce.

One of the wonderful things about the show is that every week, it does manage to morph into something totally different. After all, we’ve seen it be a comedy, a horror drama, and now, a murder mystery. On the surface, it feels like the easy motivation for killing Bryce is that he simply knew way too much about what was going on in the town. After all, he tried to warn Tom’s son, and we also saw him running through the woods before getting to the well.

Four episodes in, and it feels like we are starting to move really fast in the direction of the town truly being the nexus point for supernatural phenomena. Is there a way to still explain some of this? If so, we would really love to know what it is — not that we think the producers are going to rush into that.
