Is Wilmer Valderrama leaving NCIS following the events of the season 23 finale? Clearly, the show wants you to be worried — and how can you not be after seeing what we just did?
Ultimately, the final moments of this episode titled “Sons and Daughters” felt both classic and shocking at the same time. After all, this is not the first finale to end with the sound of a gunshot. However, this happened amidst a confrontation between Valderrama’s Torres and Matteo, a character introduced this season largely through his connection to Timothy McGee. This was arguably one of the two most controversial twists of the whole season, with the other being the death of Leon Vance. (We would honestly argue that Matteo is still the one that logically, we struggle to wrap our head around, mostly through the lens of why he was not told.)

Because there is that connection between McGee and Matteo, we can certainly understand the idea of Torres not wanting to do anything too drastic here and realistically, that is where some of the stakes are. However, at the same exact time, someone was seemingly shot, or were they? There is a chance it is a warning shot, or that someone else turned up and the gunfire was directed to them instead.
The only major thing that we can say as of this writing is that there is no online discourse out there suggesting that we could be losing Valderrama as a main cast member. The finale actually marks his 200th appearance on the show as Torres and while he does have some other ventures beyond being a cast member on NCIS, he has shown a real ability to balance them all.
