The Boys season 5 episode 6: Is Homelander immortal?

After the events of The Boys season 5 episode 6 on Prime Video, we certainly recognize that there may be some major concerns.
First and foremost, we gotta talk about the ending: Soldier Boy has given Homelander the V1, meaning that he is truly immortal and in theory, now impossible to stop. Why he did this is somewhat of a mystery, beyond him noting that it is what Liberty a.k.a. Stormfront would have wanted for him. It does give more credence to the idea that she may have been his biological mother, but on the flip side, you could also argue that Soldier Boy recognizes that immortality is in some way a curse. Yet, giving that to someone who could easily destroy the world first? That makes it complicated.

In the end, the spot it does leave almost everyone entering the final episodes is in a place where they collectively realize that they have to work together. Sage miscalculated greatly what Soldier Boy would do, and that makes her now vulnerable. Meanwhile, Ashley should not want the world destroyed, and neither should O Father. As for The Deep, that dude is probably too far gone — and he also killed Black Noir in episode 6.
The stakes are now higher entering the final chapter of the show and while we found episode 6 enjoyable, it is hard to fault anyone who is concerned that the show is a little too concerned with establishing Vought Rising, especially with Bombsight playing such a major role here. Sure, it made some sense given the story we are telling, but wasn’t Hughie the person we were following the most at the start of the first season?
